Alysa is a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator. She also has an additional certification in her specialty of adult weight management. Having been an overweight child and then an obese teenager, she also brings personal experience. By age 17, Alysa had reached 243 pounds.
It was at that point that Alysa decided to make a commitment to change her lifestyle. Through diet and exercise, she lost more than 90 pounds and has kept if off for several years.
As a result of her interest in weight loss and healthy eating, she took a nutrition course in college and decided this was what she wanted to do with her life. Alysa soon transferred to C.W. Post, where she received her bachelors degree in Nutrition and completed her dietetic internship. Since passing her RD exam, she has worked in a variety of settings, including college campuses, fitness facilities, nursing homes, and community organizations. Alysa also acts as a nutrition consultant, giving workshops on weight management and healthy eating throughout Long Island.
